1) The Palace of Illusions :

The Palace of Illusions is written in 2008 by award-winning novelist and poet Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. The novel is a rendition of the Hindu epic Mahabharata as told from Draupadi's viewpoint, namely, that of a woman living in a patriarchal world. Mahabharata always revolved around the fierce rivalry between the Pandavas and the Kauravas and their dreadful war for the throne of Hastinapur. Why is Draupadi blamed for the Pandava’s catastrophe when it was the guys who were gambling and lost everything in the first place?’, ‘why would a mother allow her sons to share a wife’ and most importantly, ‘why have women been constantly demeaned in our mythologies?’ Take Draupadi, Sita, Menaka, Surpanakha, or Ahalya for instance. Moreover, Krishna and Draupadi's friendship is another highlighting part of the novel. A must-read a mythological book for all. Some important lines:

●"The heart itself is beyond control. That is its power and weakness."

2) My Gita

My Gita is written by acclaimed mythologist Devdutt Pattanaik, where he simplifies The Bhagavad Gita for the young generation. The book "My Gita" formed a perspective of The Gita in a more rational, open-minded, and meaningful manner. Devdutt Pattanaik writes My Gita with his trademark style of taking examples, stories from The Ramayana, The Mahabharata, and other mythologies. The description of the evolution of The Gita and its history of getting the current form is highly researched and very well written. The structure of Gita is analogous to various Abrahamic religions where the concept of one God exists. Thus, he says that wide familiarity with its concept, the West attempted to translate it. So if you want knowledge about Gita and its perspective then you should add this book to your booklist. Here are some quotes from this book:
My Gita

●"The Gita doesn’t speak of Changing the World. It Speaks of appreciating the World that is Always Changing".

This is a mythological thriller based on the unknown life of Jesus Christ. The story is the version of the theory that Jesus had lived in India and died here. It has got a lot of ancient theology and a lot of symbolism too which is a treat in itself. Basically, it is an Indian counterpart of "Da Vinci Code".
